Sr. Margaret Schmit and Sr. Regina Corde – Relocating

Dear Fathers, Parishioners and Friends,

It has been sixteen years since we arrived at Mary Queen of Heaven Parish and were welcomed by Msgr. Jamie and each of you.  Our Convent (top floor of the Parish Center) provides us with all the comforts of home.  Spiritually we are blessed — Msgr. Jamie, while he was here and now Father Tom, Pastor and Father Ikenna provide us with the opportunity for daily Mass and are there for us at all times. Mary Queen of Heaven is truly a Touch of Heaven in Brooklyn.

How does one leave such a treasure?  And also leave Sr. Ann Martha and Sr. Bernadette?  It is not easy!

But now is the time to move on to another chapter in our lives.  We are returning to our Religious roots–Amityville–where we entered the Dominican Sisters of the Holy Cross, Amityville many years ago.

As they say, that which goes around comes around and also there is a time for welcoming and a time to say till we meet  again.  You have been a blessing and an example of prayerful people.  When we leave a place we go richer from all the lessons we learned and the love we shared.

We thank you for your love and support over the years and ask for your prayers as we continue on our journey.  Be assured of our prayers.

Sr. Regina Cordé Hockenberry, O. P.

Sr. Margaret Schmit, O. P.
